Amusement parks, as soon as someone mentions them, we immediately think of Disneyland or Gardaland, crazy adrenaline rides, death trains, ferris wheels and houses of horror, something that has been around for a hundred years.

But the truth is completely different.

Before that, there were fairs that lasted several days, where along with a variety of products, entertainment was also offered, many jugglers, acrobats, exotic animals and the most interesting Freak show - performances by freaks, and while the excited crowd enjoyed such shows, the youngest ones used the first attractions, wooden carousels with woven baskets, all to entertain visitors so that they spend as much as possible.

The first and oldest amusement park Bakken (hill) was built way back in 1583. in Denmark and soon became a very popular place for a day trip for families with children, young people and retirees. Bakken Amusement Park still exists today, but instead of the modern consumer frenzy, it offers a variety of wooden and indigenous objects, products of local artisans and merchants.

Amusement parks as we know them emerged in the middle of the 20th century together with the first industrial revolution. The "birthplace" of amusement parks is Chicago when, back in 1893, when the Ferris wheel was presented at the World Exhibition.

Walt Disney came up with the idea of building an amusement park because of the popularity of his animated characters, as many fans visited his studio looking for entertainment. 1955 opens today the world's most famous amusement park, Disneyland, there were 28,000 guests at the opening, over the years the park expanded to today's 100 hectares, consisting of nine thematic "lands" and employing 20,000 people who work on maintenance, attractions and entertaining numerous daily visitors, namely 2022 16.9 million guests visited the park.

It can be said that amusement parks are more and more popular and visited because of the human need for good fun, adrenaline, testing one's limits, spending time with family and friends, creating memorable memories. There are catering facilities in the parks because guests are both thirsty and hungry from various experiences and excitement and of course from fatigue, therefore the catering offer has developed from vegetable popcorn and ice cream to real fast food franchises to restaurants with a complete offer. No one leaves the amusement park without souvenirs, which have developed into a real industry of branded products. Also, due to the size of some parks, it was necessary to open hotels where guests can stay overnight, because it is not possible to visit all the attractions and other things that the parks have to offer in one day. In the end, the amusement park industry resulted in the development of settlements in their vicinity, people moved to their vicinity and worked in stores, shops, restaurants, fields in order to be able to supply all the guests who visit the amusement park. Therefore, financial profit is achieved not only by the owners, but also by local communities and companies, because with the influx of so many guests from all over the world, you also develop other branches of tourism and raise the value of the city as a tourist destination.
